Yeah I really messed up here :(... Ok so I went ahead and tested out Linux Mint 11. Looked good, so I wanted to install it alongside my Windows 7 for a dual-boot. When it came time to select the partition to install on, I DELETED a ~69gb partition, and created two partitions from the freed unused space, ext4 and linux-swap. I believe something was on that partition that was needed... >_> Linux Mint now works fine. But when I turn on the computer and select Win 7 from the grub loader, Windows starts up (The flag animation), but turns to Blue Screen midway and the computer reboots. I still have my partition in which Windows was installed, with WINDOWS, USERS, SYSTEM32, and all my documents. etc... but I cant boot into Windows.

Anything I can do to repair this? Or am I stuck like this forever?

I launched that from the recovery disk, but it did not recognize the OS, asked for driver. I skipped that, and went to Startup Repair, but it said It could not automatically fix

boot off install disc and reinstall. If you have recovery discs they should give you an option to backup data. I also recommend not to install linux if you want to keep windows. I've tried many linux distros and they ruined my old windows partition.

Ok, will do. Will the reinstall option keep all my old files and programs?

Ok thanks. Will the existing Linux install be removed as well?

no, but you will not be able to boot into linux before some tampering. to remove the partition right click on my computer, select manage, then a window will pop up, on the left panel there should be options. click on storage, then disc management, find the linux partition delete it two times, and extend your windows partition using the freespace from the linux partition. If you want to keep linux download easybcd (google it) and and a new entry to the bootloader with your linux partition. save changes and restart. you should have a choice to boot your linux operating system. (just so you know if easybcd asks what os your linux is say ubuntu because mint is based of ubuntu)

Option 1
You need to install GRUB bootloader.
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/116098-dual-boot-windows-7-ubuntu.html?ltr=D

Option 2
If you have a External HD, you could copy & paste your data.
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/93347-copy-paste-windows-recovery-console.html
than copy & paste your data to new install.

All Linux code must be deleted,With the CLEAN ALL command,As you have had linux on the HD you need do a Clean all & full format.

Type in command line
DISKPART
LIST DISK
SELECT DISK # (win HD)
CLEAN ALL
CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY
SELECT PARTITION 1
ACTIVE
FORMAT fs=NTFS
ASSIGN
EXIT
EXIT

you could try this portable grub called super grub disc. Burn the iso to a disc. Boot off of it and select your os. get it here
