Solved Deleted system reserved and main partition on windows 7 install

Hi,

I'm installing Windows 7 on a new SSD, and using the old Windows 7 HDD as an extra drive. Installing Windows failed the first time (corrupt file). When I went to install it the second time, I accidentally deleted both the system reserved partition and the main OS partition on the OLD HDD, instead of the new SSD like I wanted to do. I immediately cancelled the installation, but it was too late. Now when I plug the old HDD into another machine, the whole disk is unallocated. Is there any way for me to repair the partitions, or at least get the data off of it (like I should have in the first place)?

After some searching, it seems as though most people delete just the system reserved partition, not both like me. I've tried some of those solutions but they don't help.

Minitool Partition Wizard was able to recover the partitions

If you deleted them you should be able to recover them with partition wizard free boot cd Partition Wizard Bootable CD allows user to manage partition directly with partition manager bootable CD.

Ya, I figured it out just as you posted it. I didn't search the forums enough before panicing and posting. I used the Windows version on a different pc rather than the bootable version. Thanks though. I'll keep the bootable version handy for the future

Always unplug the other HD when installing to a new SSD or HD.
Clean Install Windows 7
Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7
