deleting recent items going to recycle bin

Hi guys.

I've search the forum but nothing shows for this problem.

I have a recent problem. When I open a lot of files since I've had Window 7 you can right-click on recent file and select delete, it removes them from the list.

Today if I do the same it says delete item to recycle bin with a yes/no confirmation.

Why has it just started to do this?

I had a serious problem yesterday one of my regular apps wasn't working correctly. The pictures don't show. I reinstalled the app which fixed the first problem and reinstall SVGView.exe which shows graphics.

This Navbbar2.0_SVG11.js is where its supposed to be.

I sometimes get the script message on IE11.

It doesn't matter if I click yes or no the same message appears.

Even though this app isn't a main Windows program and to totally reinstall it takes a few days with all the additional database files.

I did a system restore back one week and this app still didn't, so I restored it back to yesterday. Everything works as it did before apart from this app.

I start the laptop up today and go on the web. My Favorites bar is missing even though it ticked. I have to open each web link and add it to the Favorites bar. If I click on Favorites on the menu bar previously I could see all Favorites and sub folders so I could select which one I wanted. That doesn't show anymore.

Before you ask have you done a virus check, I have Avast Pro running all the time. If I do a full drive scan that can take a full day. I also have Malwarebytes Anti-Malware running which picks up nothing.

I have to log in every site I use again even though I click Yes to remember this site.

Any solutions are appreciated.

I add this to my Favorites but when I look in Favorites its not shown. It does list all the sub folders I can select

Who has rights on that .Is and . HTM file its sounds like rights on the file or folder are wrong have you installed a new AV as they can stop .Is from running

Your taking about my other app that doesn't show pictures?

I'm the only one that uses my laptop so I'm the admin. and its not shared with my other computer.

I've just do another system restore back 3 days and my favorites are still no showing when they used to.

I posted this question on another forum that uses ElsaWin. They said its a common fault with IE11 I need to install IE10 or earlier. IE11 has always been installed and the app has ALWAYS worked before.

The notification icon is in the systray now saying I need to change my Windows update settings. I check those and it still the same. Notify me of any updates and I will choose to install them. I click ok the notification still shows.

There is another slight problem with doing the system restore. There are some folder that I shows files sort by date modified so the newest are at the top. It shows that but the next time I click on that folder it changes back to name.

The anti-virus I use is Avast Pro because you an install it on 3 computers using the same license. All other anti-virus makers charge for each computer, which you can Google.

Ok I've sorted my recent items not being stored in the recent items list.

Task bar properties
Start menu Customize
In Privacy
Tick store and display recently opened items in the start menu and task bar.

Previously I can right-click on each item I don't really want and select delete and it removes it from the list. Now if I select delete the message say are you sure you want to delete this to the recycle bin.

These are only short-cuts to files I've opened but its deletes the main file as well as the short-cut which is total crap. When I want to permanently delete a file I press the shift and delete button. Now the message asks do you want to delete this to the recycle bin?

The IE11 is the other main fault as I've said it doesn't show any saved web links or folders. They all show in my account so why doesn't they show when IE is up and running?

I've thought about uninstalling IE11 which puts back IE9 just to see if my app shows pictures. As I've said its always worked properly in IE11 before.

When I shut down the laptop and restart. All saved features are lost I have to set everything backup as I like it.

I'm old so I like the square start button which is classic Windows, restart goes back the round Window 7 button.

In personalise I have loads of pictures from holidays so I set the desktop picture to those. Now I have to use Windows 7 before they show, when they used to show on classic.

Every forum I use I have to log in every time that another bleeding annoying thing that's happened.

I've never seen such a total cockup for a system restore.

I opened the files I use a few times a day. Access database, it said install CD to add a feature. Which I did and it works.

I tried to update one of my other programs to add a new database. This feature wasn't available I had to reinstall to add missing features. It tells you to restart the computer. When it restarted all the things I had changed went back to Windows 7 default.

After the reinstall all the missing parts to my app were back.

As I've mentioned before it doesn't do an automatic system backup, I do it manually before I shut down.

Windows Update service not running

When I look at all the dates listed I selected 30/08/18 its said it couldn't restore from that point. Why the hell not if its listed. I had to use 03/09/18.

I'm not a happy Windows 7 user after these stupid cockups.

After the restart after installing the update. I could right-click and remove recent files without it going to the recycle bin. You tell me why?

I uninstalled IE11 which put back IE8 the graphics files were still missing from this app, as I knew it would. I should have copied the folder to an external drive so I can check for missing files.

I will need to reinstall Windows 7 as these annoying features I can't do with when it can't remember my settings it resorts back to default on every start-up.

Ok I decided to re-install Windows 7 so I backed up another big folder I use all the time. When I looked in that folder there was a graphics folder which shouldn't be there. These are all the missing graphics from my other app. I moved them back and all the missing graphics show. I don't know how the hell I've dragged the graphics folder to another folder I NEVER open that folder which has 10 sub folders. That must have been a low sugar moment.

Anyway as I've said before I did 2 system restores. The first one I couldn't see all my saved web sites or folders even though they show in USERS my account. I did another system restore and put it back to the current date and these web sites still didn't show.

How do you work that one out?

I did the re-install and changed all my settings how I like them. All setting I now make are remembered not like before. I reinstalled all the software. I opened Windows Updates and ticked which I've always used.

Important updates.

Check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them.

Recommended updates.

Give me the recommended updates the same way I received important updates.

That downloaded and installed 132 updates. After it restarted I checked for updates again and it added another 7. Why the hell can't it show them all the first time? I know the updates only come out the second Tuesday of each month.

Every time I click OK the Note flag always shows in the systray. I have to hide that one which I didn't do before.

Going back to the original question when I delete files I don't want as I have a backup I press shift + delete. Now a lot of files delete but some still go to the Recycle Bin.

When I delete recent opened files they now remove from the recent file list and no go to the Recycle Bin.

Just to answer this part of your post. They could possibly be updates/amendments to previous updates or exclusive access updates. This means that they can't be downloaded and installed before other updates have been.

What I didn't mention in my last post. When it was downloading all these updates it got to 42%, I left for another 20 minutes and it still showed 42%. So I stopped the download/install so I could click on it later. I've had this stopped downloading on the last rebuild.

When I started it again it downloaded and installed in a few minutes. I looked at the installed updates and 30% of them said.
Installation status: Cancelled - I didn't cancel anything it took that long to download updates I stopped download for a while.

I have all the KB numbers and I can download them from Microsoft Update Catalog

The only problem here is if I install them it won't show in the Windows Update list or the installed updates in Control Panel if I need to uninstall them for some reason. Which it totally stupid as its a Microsoft Update.
