dell inspiron m5010 keeps restarting at the splash screen

I am working on a Dell Inspiron m5010. The problem is that it keeps restarting at the dell splash screen over and over again.


Here is what I have tried

running the dell diagnostic tool which comes back good

Trying to boot to the windows CD which it won't

I finally pulled out the hard drive because I thought maybe it had a bad sector but the extended test came back good. Oh and let me tell you for as many hard drive replacements I have done on laptops this one is just ridicules to get to.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank You

The Dell forums probably would be the best place to try and get help. Those there more familiar with Dell products. I used to do a lot of support on the Dell forums but it was mostly desktops.

I would suggest resetting the BIOS, but that is a bigger pain on the laptops than the hard drive replacement. Dell's do not have a BIOS recovery (if the BIOS were corrupted) like some motherboards do. If the BIOS is corrupted the ONLY option is to replace the motherboard.

Have you tried running a sfc/scannow or a repair install? We have many excellent tutorials here at the forums,written by some very knowledgeable people. Here's one on how to do that if you haven't before, just click on the link.

I'm assuming of course that you've ran all your Malware and Anti-Virus programs first of course.
