Hi!

Just when I was about to download XP-mode and virtual pc the micro$oft site recognised my system to be non-genuine. Now this is, by all accounts, a load of bull$h!t - the computer is less than 5 months old and came with the system preinstalled.
Still the question of further action remains. That's totally unacceptable that a completely valid and legal copy is recognised as non-genuine.
Furthermore - oh what an irony - my previous computer running pirated windows never had the issue.. I'd really hate to resort to piracy again just to use my completely legal copy of the software to its full extent.

MGADiag log is as follows, thanks for the help!

Downloadable genuine validation tool for virtual pc standalone download worked like a charm..
But there's still the question of XP-mode. I'd really prefer not to use tpb.se to update a legal copy of windows..

The 0x80072EFD error indicates a connection problem -
This is probably due to either malware or the residues of an AV.
What AV is currently installed - what other AVs have EVER been installed (including the one pre-installed by the manufacturer)??

Are you using a third-party firewall?
What other security software is in place?

Eset Smart Security 5 (includes both AV and firewall) has been doing the job from the beginning - I specifically refused any pre-installed software except the OS itself
I checked the firewall and sure it was blocking access to validation.sls.microsoft.com.. Well, go figure.. :sarc:
Probably blocked access forever by mistake instead of allowing it.
Also, unblocking the address solved the issue. Thanks a ton, wouldn't have known to search it from there..
