Any HDD and raid controller recommendations for a raid 0 setup for my friend's dell xps 410.. preferably would like to keep the total cost under $200

I have no personal experience so I will leave particulars to others, but I know the Dell XPS 410 will do raid 0 without a controller. Make backups, if one drive goes, you lose all data. A Guy

The controller should be built into the motherboard, however you will get much better performance if you pay for a dedicated RAID controller, but not for $200. I agree, though back up just in case 7 refuses to load or you can't find suitable RAID drivers.

You can use the RAID on the motherboard it will work fine. However I would not use RAID 0 unless you are going to make daily backups. Hard Drives fail all the time and using RAID 0 will cause all data to be lost.

I did a little research since the original post.. found out how to set up raid 0 via the native bios support. now it's just a matter of waiting for the new HDDs... thx for the advice.
