Desktop Background and Slide Show

I am running W7 premium and cannot get the slideshow to run nor change my desktop background picture. I have tried all the settings on the laptop but nothing works.

Try setting a slideshow using the below tutorial. Remember to change your advanced Power Plan settings too.

Thanks for the info - I have tried all that - it appears that my System Control Manager which controls these thing is not working. I have no idea how to fix it.

Take a look at the following thread taken from the Microsoft Technet forums.
System Control Manager

According to a poster who works at MSI, the System Control Manager is safe to uninstall. But do so at your own risk, it may not be the same for everyone.

Desktop

I have found my usser account to be corrupted and now can't seem to copy my info from the older user account to my new one. Anybody have a suggestion?

You might wana consider doing this:

First go to control panel turn on "show hidden files" in folder option
navigate to : %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Themes\

From here you should be able to see the TranscodedWallpaper & a slideshow.ini, right click delete both.

Do a reboot and setup your wallpaper slideshow again as usual.
