desktop background is black

Im having the same problem, I have a TOSHIBA laptop satellite L355 S7915. I remember the good ol days when i could just simply choose a background. Now, its just black. I can change it or choose a different one, but the background continues to be black.

Welcome to Seven Forums MocaNico17. Have you tried deleting the TranscodedWallpaper.jpg?

Start> In search box type (or copy and paste) %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Themes> Delete the TranscodedWallpaper.jpg

   Note

The TranscodedWallpaper.jpg is a hidden file, you must have folder opetions set to show hidden files to see it

Have you already activated your Windows 7?

If not, then your background will turn black like this after the 30-day grace period to activate has expired.

There is a chance your Win7 background to go black (without a possibility to add a background picture) if your Windows is not activated.

Did you have a non-genuine copy of Windows activated in some kind of non-Microsoft (illegitimate) way. If this was the case, and you recently effectuated Windows Update + restarted, your copy of Windows will go back to non-activated mode where the background is black with no possibility to change it.

Easy way out - register your copy ow Windows with a legitimate Windows key.
