My desktop that had win 7 as my main OS crashed as i was trying to add win 10 as a dual OS. It turned out that i lost both of them. Now i had the updated win 10 version when it was first offered, providing i had a legitimate win 7 disk, which I have. Now am i allowed to update again or am i out of luck? Someone told me that if i attempt this with their Media creation usb tool, they would give me the Pro version and i do not need or want that version. Is this true? I still intend to reinstall win 7 again.

Dual Boot Windows 10 with Windows 7 or Windows 8 | Tutorials

as for w10 and activation/registration

>>if<< you have allready installed w10,

via windows 7 GWX update- straight transfer of your data, auto activation and registration

via mct - upgrade path then it will be the same version as your w7, home-home pro-pro, and will auto-activate and be registered on ms servers PERMENANTELY as such (all your W7 files/programs copied/transferred as well)

via mct - clean install you will have selected the version, home or pro BUT you will have to provide the relevant product key within 30 days for it to be activated and registered, then it will also be permenantly registered
(you may have to use the oem sticker product key, for w7, to run both concurrently)

if you only want home but have pro

TY.....just to feel a bit more confident....I am confused with line 8 about activation key. The win 10 pro on my hd has no activation and i do not want that version anyway. The only activation key that i still do have is for win 7, so will that allow me to get the Win 10 home version, replacing the Pro version?

I'm still waiting to hear from someone to what I previously wrote about Line 8....It says something about product key for win 10....i do not have that, only for win 7....will it work with that win 7 product key...i hope someone responds soon...i need to install it and can't claim the thread as solved, till then.
