desktop freezes after display turned on

Same here

Glad to find this thread. Now i know that i'm not only one with this. I'm looking for the answer since first time this "feature" was discovered... Must to check (after reading this thread and understanding that it's POSSIBLY win7 x64 bug) may be the issue is connected somehow with C1E/C2 state in BIOS?

Desk top freezes when display turns on

As i said in a previous reply i just used feed headlines gadgets to resolve the problem.
I now use the clock gadgets with the second hand option so that something is moving.
Every time i boot up i just drag the clock to the far left off the display desktop.I don't have any icons showing on my desktop ,not even the clock, except when i reboot .As i said before when i reboot i just drag the clock to the far left off the view of the desktop. So don't complain to me that you want a clear desktop, and the problem fixed by Microsoft. It is not important enough to them. When the problem happens to a computer no information is sent back to Microsoft.Microsoft say that only some computers experience the problem. This is not a fix (by Microsoft that you would like)
but a work around. Like it or leave it. I have auto hide the task bar and turn off the display after 15 minutes with no lock ups ever.

hi, i complained about this issue pages ago :D

just wanted to update my complaint :D and that i learned how to live with it

i read all you wrote, and noticed that someone said it freezes for 2-3 minutes, for me it's never been over half a minute or so,... but it does depend on how long it's been away from me :D
at first when i came home i used to move my mouse first then went to do other stuff while it unfreezes :D but now regularly when i leave my computer i press Win key, or move my mouse so the task bar is visible and it doesn't freeze :D

and thats how i learned to live with Microsoft's incompetence :D

(my comp specs are on page 3 i think :)

I was having the exact same issue with my new Gateway SX 2802-01 (from Costco) and after trying all of the fixes found on this forum, with no sucess, I finally called Costco tech support and he recommended I do an OS recovery. He told me that sometimes when OS's are mass produced on hard drives by the manufactors, some of the OS files will get corrupt causing problems as described in this forum.

Well to make a long story short, I preformed an OS recovery using the Recovery Disc I burned from my Windows 7 OS on the hard drive and it worked. I haven't had any issues with the Desktop Icons freezing up. I believe this will also take care of the Desktop going black after loading a full screen game.

I have found the solution. Just have at least 1 windows gadget running and everything will be fine.

You Say You Found A Solution ?

Have a look on page four you didn't like it when i told every one about a year ago about having any gadget running, or if you don"t want to use bandwith just have the clock going with the second hand.( On page 5) You said that just give us back the auto hide task bar.

Oh right. Im so sorry and thanks for reminding me.

I forgot that having a running program can solve this problem because above all of this, i wanted the windows to be able running properly without freezes even though i dont have any running program.

I updated my first post.
