Desktop icons disappeared. plz help

my desktop icons have disappeared, anything i paste or save on the desktop cannot b seen. plz help

right click on your desktop-View-make sure Show Desktop Icons is selected.

Wow, thanks, this has had me puzzled for 2 days. I never thought of looking under Desktop/View. I was going to personalize and show desktop icons

I've noticed funky things with the network connection. It doesn't always hook back up after logging on. I'll have to click on the NETWORK shortcut in win explorer and wait for it to populate. If the above-mentioned "management" programs run while the PC is asleep or otherwise disconnected from the network, is it possible that it doesn't find the targets for these shortcuts and "cleans" them up? Anyone chased that rabbit yet?

Optical drive shortcuts disappear

I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit with SP1 and all other critical updates.

Shortcuts created to the desktop for optical, (2 SATA DVD burners), floppy & USB drives randomly disappear on a regular basis. Sometimes they stay there for days, then suddenly disappear two or three times in as many days.

All other desktop icons remain constant. The icons in question are at top left as shown in this image.

The fixes shown above in this post apply to standard system icons for Windows, and haven't given a solution.​
