Hi

I'm working on a desktop PC which initially boots up extremely quickly and connects immediately to the internet. The problem is, it is very slow when accessing web pages either via IE 11 or Google Chrome.

I noticed, Norton 360 had not been updated in 73 days due to a problem. I rectified this and run a scan and it identified some malicious files. Norton cleared this and I have run subsequent scans both quick and thorough scans and no further faults were found. I downloaded Malware Bytes ( this took ages) and it also identified 7 PUPs which I immediately removed. Subsequent scans didn't identify any further problems.

The problem has not been totally cleared as although it is marginally quicker, it is not what it should be in terms of speed.

I would appreciate if anyone could advise what else I can do to pinpoint the issue.

I would go a step further than just malware bytes. I would download install and run superantispyware from the following link and let it run and scan for anything. Then once thats done; I would completely reset your internet connection by unplugging the power to both your modem and or router(if you have one); wait about a minute or so for the memory and memory cache to clear itself out; then plug the modem in first and let that boot; then then plug the router back in and let that boot(again if you have one). And then see if it helps resolve the issue for ya. Here is the link to the anti spyware program:

Sorry for taking so long, thanks for this advice, superantispyware found additional issues which have been cleared. However there was a problem with the internal wiring within the house which was affecting broadband speed. This has now also been resolved and the PC is like "new" :)
