Desktop reset to default after each update

When Windows 7 completes an update all of my icons are moved to the left side and some are missing. I set everthing back to the way I had it. I don't know if this is connected to the problem, but I will place the computor in the "Sleep Mode", then when I wake it up I get the message, "Please wait while widows configures your desk top." This just started about 2 weeks ago. I have set Windows to inform me of new updates before they are download and installed.
I have never seen this before, hope someone knows have to fix it.

Do you have a System Restore point before this began? I would revert to it now.

If not run SFC /SCANNOW Command.

In addition run a few Startup Repairs to see if it finds anything.

Work through these other Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7 to check over everything.
