I've been using the Shortcut Arrow Remover Program for a long time now and it's been working perfectly

But after I had opened my computer and took off my fan guard from my PSU I must have jogged something inside my computer because now all the shortcut arrows show up as missing images.

It could have also been to do with CCleaner when I did a clean up. I don't normally use the registry function to fix "Unused file extensions" and seeing how the icon remover program uses the .ico I think it stopped it from working.

Here is a screenshot of my desktop, as you can see where the "blank.ico" should be used it's now missing or not be able to be read.

Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

You could try rebuilding the icon cache as this tutorial shows: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/49819-icon-cache-rebuild.html

Alternatively, you could try a system restore to a point before running CCleaner. In any event, it's always best to either create a registry backup or create a restore point before you use CCleaner in case anything does go wrong.

I've just tried both methods that you both suggestions but the problem still persists. I used system restore back 2 days ago which I'm sure had no problems then and the icons are still missing.

Sadly I didn't save a registry backup when doing CCleaner. Not sure what to do now...

Fixed! Thank you for your help everyone.

What I did was manually edit the registry file to the blank.ico file path. For some reason my old blank.ico disappeared.

I am having the exact same problem.
But I do not understand precisely what Alfie94 has done to solve his PB

"Manually edit the registry file to the file path blank.ico"
Which key exactly please ?

PB completely solved! Same issue as Alfie94 !

Thank you for your prompt and judicious aid.

The repair solution on-site update I liked as a last resort,
but I finally got to solve everything, ie:
-images of icons missing on desktop
-images of icons missing in exploring
-Blue screen crash when right click on a partition.
-slow explorer.exe

Solution that worked with me:
I went in -> HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ explorer \ Shell Icons
A sub-type REG_SZ key 29 was empty.
I gave the value C:\Windows\System32\shell32.dll,29

Well, that's all!
Glad to get out of the PB properly.
And thanks again for your help.
Thank you Alfie94 !!
Thank you Sir George !!
