desktop shortcut image changes then back to initial image

This happens most often to my Windows 7 Forum shortcut.
This what it looks like now.......



Now and then, it would change into something like a globe. A little later, it would revert back to the " normal " image.

What causes that ?

NO, I did not install anything when this happened last time.

Does the screen flicker when this occurs?

If so, I'd guess it's something to do with Windows temporarily switching from Aero to Basic for some reason.

That in itself would suggest you may have some sort of a conflict with your graphics card or setup.

You might want to check the Event Logs and see if there is anything untoward going on.

It could also be that you have shows thumbnails instead of icons not checked like in the following where mine is checked. I tried what you said with the icon and it stays the same after clearing cache and a reboot:

Vista tutorial shortcut changed image and then reverted back to original image a little while later........

This happens only when I click at vistax64 forums, both vista and win 7.
It does not happen in other shortcuts.

Yes, sometimes, only sometimes, the screen flickers, and that also happens ONLY when I click at vistax64 forums.
