DirectX Installation Error, COD Black Ops

Hi,

I've scoured every forum I could find trying to find a solution for this and it is getting INCREDIBLY frustrating.

To sum it up:
DirectX doesn't like Call of Duty: Black Ops on my machine. I am running the following:
-Win 7 64-bit pro on an SSD
-Gigabyte nVidia Geforce 460 1GB DDR5 256-bit GPU
-AMD Phenom II x6 1100T 3.3GHz

Everything ELSE on my rig runs great. It's just when I try to open Black Ops in Steam, it says
"Performing first time setup...
Installing Microsoft DirctX for Windows (step 1 of 1)"

Then the window closes, no error message to be found and the game doesn't start.

I've tried downloading DirectX from their website, and every time I try to update it, I get the following error:

"An internal system error occured. Please refer to DXError.log and DirectX.log in your Windows folder to determine the problem."

I open DXError.log and it displays the following:

Sorry, I know this is long but I'm frustrated and am providing as much info as possible.

All other games run fine, it's just COD: Black Ops will not run on Steam and DirectX keeps getting an error every time I try to install it.

DXDiag shows I'm running Directx Version 11 and everything reads as good.

Sorry, I know this is long but I'm frustrated and am providing as much info as possible.

All other games run fine, it's just COD: Black Ops will not run on Steam and DirectX keeps getting an error every time I try to install it.

DXDiag shows I'm running Directx Version 11 and everything reads as good.

Two things I notice.

1-acess is denied may be a permissions thing try running as admin
Failed API: SetupIterateCabinet()
Error: (5) - Access is denied.

2-a three year old driver that cant be from win 7. find an update
module: dsetup32(May 31 2007), file: dxupdate.cpp, line: 280, function: CSetup::InstallPlugIn

After that can you give us the event viewer logs and any BSOD DMO files if they exist

Try installing with right click selection "Run as Administrator"

There would be a problem with the installation file not be able to make changes to the higher config directX in your computer. So you can choose the Black Ops executable file to "Run as Administrator" from the right click menu and it might run. I had a similar problem and it got successfully installed with the same.
