Disable shared RAM

i have a laptop with an eGPU build, and i think disabling sharded ram between eGPU and System will reduce the pci bandwidth between the card and EC. how would i go about disabling shared ram to the GPU? are there any programs that support this? there is NO option in my bios.

idk lol i mean like i have 6gb of ram, but a certain amount goes towards graphics. so i only have like 5.86 avaible

I've just checked your System Specifications, and here's what I found:

Radeon 540v [COLOR="Red"]512MB[/COLOR] Internal

The 512MB Graphics Memory will need to be mapped into the System RAM, as result of Memory Mapped I/O, read the above link and this link for a better explanation:

• The system memory that is reported in the System Information dialog box in Windows Vista is less than you expect if 4 GB of RAM is installed

There is no reason to change it, you want your video card to use as much memory as possible. I`m curious, could you post a few pics of the external gpu you have hooked up ?

I`m assuming you have it hooked to an external monitor, I mean how else could you use it.

I agree Quad10, the more RAM the GPU shares, the better the eGPU will perform. w7 is very good at allocating and using RAM.

yesbut with the eGPU having 1gb, i see no reason it would have to share system ram with it.

Maybe this will do it.

In the Start rb:Search type msconfig to open the System Configuration window, if UAC asks, allow it to run. Select the Boot tab and click the Advanced button. The BOOT Advanced Options window will open.
Uncheck the box for Maximum Memory if it is checked. Click OK, Apply and reboot for the change to take affect.

yea it wouldent boot with pci lock. error code 43 lol owell. hmmmm wonder what the hell it can be.

my 3dmark06 score is 5512 while other with similar setups are getting about 18k

I would recommend letting Windows 7 take care of your ram sharing. Windows 7 will only share ram when needed and that is exactly what you want it to do.

Apologies Quadrider10, I do admire your efforts!! i know you don't want to hear it... but you really need a desktop.

You have made great strides in your efforts with your system, and as I said before I admire that.. but when you get a chance to get a desktop you will get what you are looking for. I wish you the best my friend!!
