Hi all i would like to set wuauserv Update Service from (Automatic Delayed) to (Manual), i can do that without problems, but whenever the pc is restarted the service revert's it;s self to Automatic Delayed.

is there a way to permanently set this service to Manual and persist trough restarts?

Thanks

Hi dtoxic,
I believe you have to go into Windows Update and Change settings for your (automatic delayed) to (manual) change to remain in Services.msc
Control Panel\System and Security\Windows Update\Change settings\Never check for updates

Thx for the answer, but that was the first thing i did, even tried editing the registry to no result,
as of now Update settings are set to "Never check for updates" service is set to Manual, but once i do a restart then it goes back to Automatic delayed and starts again.

I set my WU to never check for updates
Services.msc
then I set BITS to Manual
clicked apply
I set Win Update to Manual
clicked apply
rebooted
BITS is back to delayed start, WU is still on manual
Tried rebooting several times, WU is still on manual

dtoxic. Is this computer at your place of work or is it your private home computer. If it's a work computer then you probably will not be able to change that setting.

dtoxic. Is this computer at your place of work or is it your private home computer. If it's a work computer then you probably will not be able to change that setting.

it's a private pc, Win7 Ultimate, witch wont be used on the internet, but the update service still checks for updates and the svchost service can go up to 500-1000mb in usage (it drops afterwards) but still would be nice if it didn't do that at all, since i don't need updates on that machine

Well just an update, i fouund a way how to stop the Update from running.
What i did was set the service logon as ".\Guest" thus now service cant start because it does not have the permission to do so.
Found the info on the net after digging for a while.
In the event viewer there is an error about this but that's ok, now ill see how meny times it want's to start during the course of 24h, since there is no other solution to this
