I've been trying to disable remote assistance as thoroughly as possible. I followed instructions to Remote Settings & unchecked the "Allow remote assistance connections to this computer" box.

Then I was further instructed to check the "Don't allow connections to this computer" box -- only there is no such box. It appears everyone else has it but I don't. Why not? Should this concern me? I was hacked recently & lost a substantial amount of money as a result, & I need to make sure the same person doesn't have access again.

Any help appreciated. Thanks!

Yeah, it's funny, you wouldn't think you'd need two boxes, but every tut I've seen instructs you to uncheck one, then check the other.

The "Don't allow connections to this computer" option is available only on Professional, Enterprise and Ultimate editions of Windows 7. This disables the ability of these systems to act as a host for remote desktop. As the home editions do not support this feature anyway there is no need for an option to disable it. I expect that is the reason you don't have the option.

In addition, "Don't allow connections to this computer" box is only for a Remote Desktop Connection, and not for Remote Assistance.

Unchecking the "Allow remote assistance connections to this computer" box will prevent them from being able to reconnect. :)
