DISKPART clean performed accidently. how to recover data?

Hi

"TestDisk" seems to find the partitions but they are not seems to be valid to write on the MBR ( you will see partitions in green if they are valid ). You can use "P" key to list files and "c" key to copy files/folders to another disk.

You can also do a "Deep" search if the partitions can't be browsed. However before that please upload the "MBR.img" file i requested.

Buying a new HDD as replacement for this failing one, partition it using "Gparted" or "PW" and copying data from old HDD to new using "TestDisk" will be the best option for you in my opinion.

I tried attaching MBR.img , it says invalid file. I did see the partition in "green" colour. I can access files, But how do i copy the files? I dont know where or how to paste it? Please guide. Thanks a ton. Do i try photorec or what?

That file extension may not be allowed in the forum. I would suggest upload the file to "onedrive" and post a download link to it.

You can also try renaming "MBR.img" to "MBR.txt" and attach with next reply.

"Photorec" is useful when partitions can't be accessed or not recognized by "TestDisk". It is very powerful but you won't get back the original folder structure or file names. All recovered files will be given random names and you may need to manually rename the files one by one.

Since "TestDisk" can see the partitions, you can rescue the files and folders with original file names and folder structure. Whether it is "TestDisk" or "Photorec" or any other recovery tool, a second disk to save the files is necessary. Do you have another internal HDD or external HDD to save the files ?.

A new internal hard drive is preferred as the current one is already failing so you should replace it anyway.

Ok I did not know that. Thanks for the info regarding Photorec. I do have an external HD and a 8gb pen drive. The files are shown as copied on this OS but when I check it on my laptop, the files don't exist. Also, it seems, not all files are there, is it a possiblity some folders/files could not be recovered.

Just inspected the sector dump you uploaded. DISKPART seems to wipe out LBA0 to LBA2047 ( first one MB).At sector 0, MBR code is present but it should be a result of issuing "FixMBR". Both LBA2048 and LBA 2049 shows data which means the first partition started from somewhere between LBA1 to LBA 2047 - probably at LBA63.

Also, it seems, not all files are there, is it a possiblity some folders/files could not be recovered.

Although "TestDisk" was able to detect some lost partitions, some of them seems to be overlapping with others. As a first step, plug your external HDD and copy as much as data to it doing "TestDisk". Yes it is not an easy process especially when using a Linux based Rescue disk. However "jumanji" seems to wrote an excellent tutorial which hopefully give you an idea. I also recommend watching the below video guide.

Hi,
Just an update. I used "Partition find and mount" software. What I noticed was that it had 3 partitions. I had used EAse US partition after the BSOD error to partition my drives and increase space on the system drive. Turns out that my system drive and the drive I borrowed space from are both corrupted due to this. I recovered most of my files which were on the untouched drive, but other drives couldnt be mounted due to partition being corrupted so I couldn't recover them. I am hiring a semi-professional to do the job, but he seems to be using all the same softwares I was using.
@Link: Recuva doesnt detect the Drive or partitions.
Not solved yet! So Not marking as solved!

I my opinion "Easues" is not to blame here. Resizing a partition which is suffering from surface defect will result in data loss. You should have focused on finding the real reason behind the issue instead of trying to resize system partition. If the other forum was able to point you in the right direction, you shouldn't ended up in this situation. But running DIKPART CLEAN command is entirely your mistake - nobody other to blame.

You might have better luck with "GetDataBack for NTFS". It may be able to recover files and folders by assembling MFT fragments.
