Display crash playing CS Source

Hey guys.

I can't really go to Steam for help with this because they're as useless as a tin-can. Basically, when playing CS Source, my display driver crashes, recovers and then the game will minimise (but still hear in-game audio) but won't let me get back into the game unless I restart it. As soon as I restart, connect to a server, it'll do it all again and it's an endless cycle.

Could someone help?

Hello mate now I take it you have tried the usual driver stuff and reseating the card? because I had a similar problem a while ago but there again I am all NVidia so it might not apply.



Now I do notice you have the x6 Sidewinder KB which I also have on my main laptop and the x4 on one of my desktops - in the past I have had to reinstall the software for them and updates - sounds too improbable but worth a try.

Oh and by the way I also have the same monitor on one of my deskies

Hey ICIT. Thanks for your response bro.

I have tried the usual stuff, however I've not updated my video drivers to the latest (I don't think) because Just Cause 2 fails to run if I do.

Now just as a matter iof curiosity have you tested the power cables to the cards?? and in any case it might just be worth doing this as it could just possibly be a power supply issue and doesn't take ong to do
Using HW Info
PART A:
You can test the volts on the PSU with HW Info HWiNFO, HWiNFO32/64 - Download < download the right bit version and close the right hand window select Sensors and scroll down to the power section where you will see what the volts are doing see my pic. In my pic the section (Nuvoton) with VBATT as a dead give away you are in the section for the rail voltages. There are other section titles and one that pops up often is ITE (sometimes the usual one for Gigabyte boards)
Now the voltage on the different rails have to be within 5% =+/- of what is required or the machine will not work properly if at all.
Limits +/-
12v = 11.4 – 12.6v
5v = 4.74 – 5.25v
3.3v = 3.135 – 3.465v
The Power good signal voltage at pin 8 on the 24 pin plug (grey cable) should be the same as the 5v rail reading/s

The original right hand window shows the machine running and is handy for that but for looking at the components in some detail close it and use the main left hand side panel
FOR OTHER COMPONENTS
PART B:
Open each small square with + in it on the section the components are in and then click on the individual component/s (it will highlight in blue) - in the right hand side will appear all sorts of details including brands speeds and other essential info that particular device. See pic for example.

Use PART A: as I am interested i what comes back for the rail voltages and just a by the by a very handy software to keep as it can give you VERY detailed info on components whatever they may be .

Power levels are fine. I should have mentioned that GTA V runs perfectly fine with the odd black graphical line glitches sometimes, though this doesn't happen on Just Cause 2, Fallout New Vegas, Assassin's Creed II or even CS GO. (the black texture glitches I think are a common glitch with Radeon cards.) As for the display crashes, it only does it on CSS as far as on games anyway.

Hmm got me beat then as I am not that well up on serious gaming and I run all NVidia myself maybe there will be someone in more help that might have a look.
