How to Use Display Driver Uninstaller to Uninstall any Installed Display Driver​

This tutorial will show you how to use Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to uninstall the Insialled display driver completely from your system.

As a model, the current tutorial will uninstall Nvidia 347.88 WHQL driver. When this driver is installed in a computer, it appears in Programs and Features as

   Warning

You are suggested to reboot to Safe Mode before you start.

If you dont, the program will prompt you to do so when you will be in step 3. So to avoid duplication of work, better you do it before you start.

Here's how:
1. To obtain Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU)Use any of the following links:Guru 3D: Display Driver Uninstaller Download version 14.3.0.0

2. Downloading and Extracting:
Download the program from either of the links. When done, extract the download on your desktop. The resulting files will be ....
Note that there is a 7-zip file after extraction. Now, double click on it. It will attempt to extract again, on your desktop. After the extraction is done, the resulting files will be ...
The first one, that is DDU is our required program.
3. Running DDU:
Run DDU now. Either double click on it or right click > run as administrator.

If you are already in Safe Mode, proceed to Step 4.

If you are not in Safe Mode, DDU will want you to reboot in Safe Mode.
Click on "Yes" ... it will reboot the computer to Safe Mode with DDU running. Otherwise you may close this dialog, boot to Safe Mode manually and re-run DDU there.
4. Selecting graphics driver:Click on the drop down beside "Select Graphics Driver". It will give you the available Graphics driver option, that is

• NVIDIA
• AMD
• INTEL

Select that one that is appropriate for you. I selected NVIDIA as my graphics card is.
Now you are almost done.
5. Final step of execution: Click on the "Clear and Restart" button as recommended.
Click on the log box .... it will show the progress of the job. When done, your computer will be restarted.
6. That's it! After restarting, now that is the situation in Programs and Features:
So all the items installed by NVIDIA are hereby uninstalled in a single go!

To whom may respond.

Hypothetically if I have had my Gainward 660Ti installed since my last build, and I have had driver updates on a few occasions.
Am I best off running this program to uninstall previous drivers before the install of the new updated drivers.
Is there a benefit to this line of thinking or will the new driver install take care of past driver uninstall.

Or perhaps this fix only applies if I change vendors.

Wayne it's always best practice to perform clean installs of graphics drivers. You can either follow this tutorial or http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/327414-nvidia-drivers-avoid-problems.html will serve you just as well. both are excellent resources.
