dns/internet problems need help thx

Hello people

great site i been reading alot of stuff my english is not so good but ill hope some

one can help me with this problem.

half year ago i had the problem with my internetconnection it was giving me a dns error no dns serves and it was everyday gone and gone i called the ISP guy and told the problem he said to me ther was no working on internet cabels so he said it should be internet but mines was not normal everyday was no internet or for houres and days about 3 or 4 time phone calles notting happend i had internet again i dont no how but now couple weeks later same problem comes again now my lan is active im getting incoming bytes also outgoing bytes but no internet i use cable my network Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller i dont use a router

try unplugging your modem for about 30 seconds, then plug it back in. Restart your computer.

Also, I highly recommend you get a router. They provide a hardware firewall in addition to your software firewall on your computer. Netgear gives their own explaination: Why Do I Need a Router When I Already Have an Internet Connection?

it's definitely a problem related to your current DNS which i guess is your ISP's?
Try switching to OpenDNS or Google Public DNS to avoid these problems in the future or better if you run a DNS Benchmark and find out which DNS is best for you...
