DNS server priority

HI everyone, i have a question, if windows is configured with an ipv6 address , ipv4 address, ipv6 dns server address, and ipv4 dns address, to which will it first query the name resolution request ? the ipv6 dns server or ipv4 dns server

Hello,

I believe it will query the IPv6 address first as it is a later protocol... not 100% on this though.

If it is been assigned by DHCP then its more than likely that the IPv4 and IPv6 address is for the same device anyway.

The IPv6 protocol isn't using or accessing a DNS server at this point because it isn't used to go online with...yet, although it may be in the near future. It's still used internally for certain networking functions in Windows at this point.

The preferred DNS for IPv4 would be the first one on the list of two DNS servers. The second DNS entry is a back up DNS.
