Solved Do I need both Visual C++ 2008 and 2010 Redistributable installed

Both are installed. The 2008 updates are not completing so I have to do registry work to get the other updates to successfully install. Is it OK to remove the 2008 files?

Welcome to Seven Forums thebrew. Generally different programs use different versions, and some programs may even need multiple versions. The latest version is not a cumulative version, in other words. Each version is independent of each other. If you don't have any programs that require the 2008 version, then you will be ok without it of course. A Guy

A wild guess: there is no way to deterimine if I still have applications (I have uninstalled quite a few) that use the earlier versions.

Well, uninstalling the older version would likely tell you that eventually Seriously, no, it's unlikely. Most applications will actually install the correct version needed if it isn't already present. It's not unusual to end up with multiple versions. here is what is on my system for instance.
