I hate dial up to the core... In India, you can not expect more than 6-8 kbps on a dial up connection. That really sucks.

Yes its rubbish but it works - just really slowwwwwwwwwwwwly. I had to update a pc with it - took 6 or so hours for Microsoft Security Essentials and Windows Update. On the plus side activating games takes a few seconds usually.

I've seen NetZero advertised on TV. I just can not see how they stay in business. Even if you live in a place where there is no DSL, you can get satellite internet which is as fast and about the same cost wise as DSL.

I've seen NetZero advertised on TV. I just can not see how they stay in business. Even if you live in a place where there is no DSL, you can get satellite internet which is as fast and about the same cost wise as DSL.

Not quite accurate as to Satellite.....Twice the cost of DSL ($80 for speed capped at 1.5 mb down / 200k up ( with a 15-17 gb download cap /5gb upload cap for a rolling 30 day period)). If there are NO repeat NO other options then by all means consider the Satellite (I use Wild-blue which is far better than Hughes-net ...read the fine print to compare the offerings) but don't be mislead/lied to about Satellite being comparable to DSL. They are two very different animals and it is apples to oranges not apples to apples. It is also even farther away from Cable but again compare carefully and if you plan to play on-line gaming then Satellite is definitely not for you due to the latency issue. Works well enough for home based business and personal web shopping/email. Can tend to be VERY slow during the 5pm - 9pm time zone due to overselling band width. and large downloads get throttled little better than dial-up even if you have pleanty of FAP available for the download.

Disappointed Wild-blue user...Current service meets (bearly) the requirments to be called broad-band but don't get you hopes to high....Netflicks and peer-to-peer ARE throughtled down substancially and the latencey issue makes online gaming less than worthlessl

For the record I will state: There is nothing that does NOT far exceed dial up and it should be taken for only the most extreame conditions with an open ended escape clase for when something.....anything at all.....becomes available.

Best of luck with your issue and Yes I am currently content with my Satellite (Not satisfied by a long measure though). Sad that this company has chosen the business mode that "barely adequate is good enough"
