Do you save your boxes?

I have been saving most of my boxes for years and last night I decided to clean out the closet and get rid of most of them.

I am a pack rat so I keep everything. My New Years resolution is to start cleaning and organizing my junk. Normally I use the boxes to store extra cables, paper work and manuals for that item. Then if I update I place the old unit back in the box. Someday they may be worth a lot of money as antiques. :roflmao:

Some of the video card boxes are from customer builds but all the Asus mobo boxes are mine.
I usually do a major upgrade every 3-4 years.

In the past 2.5 years I did a few major upgrades back to back to my main rig since it didn't cost me that much.
Started with a P4 3.4Ghz, 2GB, X1950Pro
to
Core2duo E8400, 4GB, 9800GT
Swapped the E8400 for a Core2Quad 9400.
Sold the Q9400 and 9800GT and bought a Q6600 and GTX260
added 4GB more ram for a total of 8GB
upgraded the GTX260 to a GTX285
Sold the GTX285 and got an HD5850
Sold the Q6600/mobo/4GB DDR2 800 ram and bought the corei7 870, mobo, 8GB DDR3
Sold the original 8GB of ram from the Q6600 setup which was DDR2 1066.

I save boxes until the item is past the date I can return it to the store, then I pitch them.

Exceptions would be for things like a Monitor box, which would be handy if I need to make a long-distance move or sell the item and need to ship it somewhere.

That can make life easier....till you try to pack it back in the box.....

LG monitor packaging is pretty good, as well as the ease of taking it apart to rebox it. I had to send in my LG 19" a year and a half ago and just took a couple of minutes to box it back up.
They replaced it for free with pre-paid label to get the old one back to them.
3 year warranty and mine failed after 2 years and I was pleased with the service.

Lol,nice collection of boxes man. I don't save them,maybe I have some from my N7600GS graphic card,and from old motherboard AsRock P4V88+,keyboard,camera,some phones that I used....

I keep only high end stereo boxes and all flat screen boxes the rest I pitch after about six months after install. I too have a issue with throwing things out that could be of use later. I must have 300 computer cables of any and all types many date back to my original 286......scary !

We have a shed full of boxes. Figured if we sold a computer, people might like the boxes the parts came in.
Just can't seem to find the time to clean, test an old comp and also having to find the correct boxes for it.

One day..............maybe.

I'm another that just keeps them until the warranty runs out, trouble is here I don't have the room to keep many, we don't have a garage.

I save my boxes till the warranty run out usually around a year OR till the wife yells at me

Funny thing is as many of these things go into a collectible/antique status the boxes in good condition become as valuable or more than the goods.
