You don't need GFWL for MP now, its been patched out. Get the complete edition of GTA IV or just patch down your existing copy to 1.8 or 1.7 if its not, like everyone else. This server is the most popular join its Discord and it will have all the info you need about playing MP today.
You also don't need to dual boot win7 either. You can use any Windows OS.

I will also take the opportunity to say that GTA IV is the best in the series to date followed by SA which is subjective just how i see it, GTA 5 went downhill as in backpedaled in terms of the engine features vs GTA IV and just overall GTA IV had way more Personality to it than GTA 5 did.
GTA 6 will redeem because its next gen pipeline but i think overall it will still suck as a game because Rockstar itself has bad practices that the community dislike.
They are like Microsoft except 10 times worse when they bring new revision on old IP or retire parts of the IP most ppl don't like it, because they go against the adage of "If it ain't broke don't fix it". the most popular version of GTA SA is 1.0 then 1.7 which is back basically when the game first came out same with GTA IV the most popular version is 1.7 and then 1.8 which both are at the start of the Dev cycle.
Example like i mean here, ppl prefer MSN over Skype. But MSN is basically morphed into something bad and Skype is the more dominate brother that is just as bad if not worse.
