I have an old Adobe suite: CS3 that ran on XP and Vista. I have new laptop w wndws 7 and it scoffs at the old disc -- doesn't even acknowledge any content on it. So, I wanted to download some freeware with the vista platform, but I don't want to junk up my computer with stuff that won't run. Thanx, Clare

Vista and Windows 7 are nearly identical under the hood. I think most would run. But why take a chance. Before each install, make a system restore point. If you do not like the results, use system restore to remove.Make one install at a time, be sure that you like it or dislike it before installing the next.

I think it is the best of all worlds. You find out for yourself if you like the results and you can remove if you do not like it. What works for me, may not work for you
Good luck

CS2 successfully installs and runs in Windows 7. However, it is necessary
to install it to a folder like C:\Adobe NOT in the Windows Program Files
default directories.

I still use CS3, since it is the one I am most comfortable with. I have no problems on 64 bit W7.

I run CS3 Extended without any issues at all on Win7 Ult x64. ahriman suggests avoiding the Program Files folder. I can't verify this, but there may be something to it, as I install apps to a separate partition. I find that Windows 7 handles old apps fairly well in most cases. On one machine, I even have an early version 7 of iTunes running without problems (in compat mode).

richc46's suggestion to create a restore point first is excellent advice.
