I have Epson LQ-1150 II Printer. My computer is named GIR and my printer is shared as EPSON.

I used command

NET USE LPT1 \\GIR\EPSON /PERSISTENT:YES

NET USE

I used my printer with this command for 1 month then my my machine got infected with VIRUS and I had to format it.

Now I am unable to create a batch file and also when I enter this command the computer asks user name for "GIR". When provided with any user name whether existing user id or fake id the computer askes for password. I do not have any password on my PC. Further there is only one user account and that too with adminstrative rights.

Please help on urgent basis.

I had the same problem. What I found was that my Windows 7 had a parallel port (LPT1) listed in the device manager even though there was no physical port. What I did was change to LPT2 and the command worked. I might have been able to disable the driver in the device manager but, since using LPT2 worked, I didn't bother. As for creating batch files, I do that in notepad. Just don't save it as a .txt file when doing save as, use all files or your file will be saved as filename.bat.txt.
