I have searched in the forum (not in Google, sorry...)...



I wanted to know about changing the default folder opened when you start Windows Explorer.

Sorry, that wasn't my doubt... I try to explain better...

When you open Windows Explorer... It's opened by default with the folder 'Libraries' by default... (see attached JPG [in spanish, sorry])...

I want to change this default openend location...

How, or from where, are you opening it? If you double click on Computer it will open showing your drives. If you open from Start it will open as seen above.

i am trying to know how i can change the location by defaul (libraries) to my docs & more files folder located at another partition...

This address will open into My Documents;
%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /root,::{20E25881-F081-448e-85C9-4707A9400593}

This will open into your personal folder;
%windir%\explorer.exe /root,::{59031A47-3F72-44A7-89C5-5595FE6B30EE}

Create a new shortcut on the desktop with either of these locations, unpin your current explorer icon and pin the new one.

That's what i did for first instance, a shorcut, but i remember that in XP we had the option/button in properties to "Move..." 'my docs' folder... (the folder opened by default when you open Windows Explorer) to another location,...

The AIM for ALL of this question is to locate, by default, ALL my files I use DIRECTLY in another partition...

My experience is that is more secure to be saved files externaly to the SYSTEM partition...

I would encourage you again to setup libraries for quick access to your frequently access data.

Here's a screenie of my explorer, the librairies all point to various drives and folders on the box and are instantly available when you launch explorer.

Of course I may not upstanding what you're trying to accomplish.

Moving My Documents is not the same thing as changing Windows Explorer's defaults. If you want to move your My Documents folder so that it is on D drive, for example, that's easy. Under Libraries, right-click on the My Documents folder and select Properties. Then click on the Locations tab and follow the prompts to move it.

Not quite, there's no such option in Libraries. The option is in the personal folder (C:\Users\User\My Documents).

You are not in the same place. I'm working off the My Documents folder as seen in the left panel.

Also, his document library may not be setup.

I said "under" Libraries. Your path above assumes Windows was installed on C. Mine does not care. But I should have been more clear and I should have said to expand the Documents folder (click the little triangle) shown under Libraries to reveal the My Documents folder, as is clearly shown in my image above. From there, you right click on My Documents > Properties > Locations and change the location to wherever you want.

OP, i think we all need some clarification; Do you want to open explorer to a certain place or move your personal folders to a separate partition?

Hinting only delays progress. Next time, say, "Did you mean to say...?" - but then again, my image, which shows My Documents highlighted in the left panel, should have cleared that up.

But now I agree we need a bit of clarification from Win7Clutz.
