Hey,

I have windows 8 pro(64 bit) installed right now in my laptop. I like it, it's cool, but now it seems some programs i like don't work cool in it. So i'm now thinking of dual booting 7 & 8. And i have 300GB HDD. And i don't wan't to waste space by installing same apps for both OS. Now those are installed in 8. So is there a way to run those from there(8's drive) in 7? Or will it work if i just open the main.exe thing in all programs(in 8) in 7?

Thank you.

short answer: it is not very likely that you can run software that was installed on other windows installation.

That is because most programs adds entries to registry and registers it self on system and other OS will not have that same registry and may encounter problems.
There is some programs that can be portable and can be moved to other OS just by copying files but that's rare.
Most software embeds deeper in to the OS and will not work on other os.

I have another doubt. I have installed my old version(7) alongside 8. So when i boot 7, it boots from C and when i boot 8 it boots from C. I don't understand? I've installed 7 in drive F and when i open 7, 8 goes to drive F and vice verse. Is this a problem or is this meant to work like this?

And if i want to remove 8, do i just need to format the drive containing 8 from 7 or do i have to do something else. If yes, please tell me the steps.

Thank you

It's correct for the booted OS to see itself as C in Windows in a Dual Boot as long as correctly installed from boot and not from the other OS. Win7/8 are engineered this way. It avoids problems.

To remove Win8 may require moving the boot files to and activating Win7 partition first. To be certain please post back a maximized screenshot of Disk Management - Post a Screen Capture Image - Windows 7 Help Forums. We will give you the exact steps.

Is this a Pre-installed Windows 8 PC?
