Hello dear users,

I come to you today for help regarding the following matter. I currently have Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit installed on my computer. I would like to downgrade to Win Xp for several reasons. I do know that i have to search for the required drivers (for windows xp of course) and download them to install after i install windows XP.

My problem is that i do not know what drivers i need to search for since my computer is custom built by a friend of mine that, unfortunately, i do not talk to anymore. I am not very good with computers, but i do know how to install a copy of windows.

My question is, can someone help me identify what audio, display, ...etc drivers i need to search for?

I have updated my system spec using the automated mode.

Regards,

What I do not understand is why windows 7 did not find the drivers you need through windows update? Did you run windows updates to see what additional drivers you need? Yo can also go into device manager and look for updated drivers. Why go back to XP? It is only going to be supported for another 2 yrs, also you can install Virtual XP as long as your copy of windows 7 is an official copy.

It may not be much of an issue. I suggest you install XP and when the system boots it will use generic drivers, which usually work without issue. If you experience a problem with any of the devices, post back with specifics.

The OP didn't state there are any problems with his current install of Windows 7 or the drivers associated with it.

FYI:
Usually the windows updates have drivers that lag behind the manufacturers' driver releases on their website; I would recommend going to the manufacturers website for the latest drivers.

True but if he goes into Device Manager he can see the name of the manufacturer for the hardware installed and possibly the version and then he can go to their website for updated drivers.

He did say that he did not know which drivers he needed. Even if he goes back to XP he will still need the drivers for his OS, it might be easier for him to find or not.
