download monitor gadget

I currently get charged if i download or upload over 1GB per day and I want a gadget that will tell me how much ive downloaded so far for that day. In vista i used a google sidebar gadget called "net meter" but i would like to get rid of the sidebar. I have tried undocking the google gadget and minimising the sidebar however if i just mouse over the show desktop in the bottom right, it is also makes the gadget see-through like a normal window.
Normal gadgets stay visible when the show desktop is used so is there a way of making it so the google sidebar gadgets do not go see-through or does anyone know of any good downlod monitor gadgets?

It worked ok but the same thing happens as with the google desktop gadgets, if you hover the mouse ofer the show desktop it also goes invisible. I would like a gadget that will run on the desktop but does not go invisible when you hover over show desktop.

I don't know for certain about 7... but maybe you could try making the window "always on top" like the sidebar had, and like some programs have... I don't know if this particular program has that function, but it sounds like that might be the solution?

Why is it so critical that the app stay visible when "show desktop" is used. Show desktop doesn't interfere with the concealed programs ability to monitor and log the amount of data you have uploaded or downloaded from the net. It is hard to understand why it is so important to have it be visible when "show desktop" is in use? Seems a rather unusual requirement to me.

well i dont want to have to click to go to the desktop and then have to reopen the windows that im using, id rather hover the mouse over the button, have a quick glance and then go back to what i was doing. Basically its a lazyness thing

If you can move your mouse to show desktop it isnt that much effort to click it and then click it again, sorry but i find laziness irritating.
