you know I believe I had that same issue with my prior Acer laptop. I bought my current laptop that I use now last year in order to replace my old acer laptop. I remember near the end when I would listen to music, it would be choppy and jumpy and whatnot. I knew I needed a new system anyway. So I just ended up selling it on ebay, made a bit of cash that went towards my current laptop. I believe the culprit there though, was the hard drive on the verge of failing. I never told the person to whom I sold the laptop too that I thought the hdd was about to fail, however what one doesn't know will most likely not hurt. so long story short, I think that maybe your hard drive is slowing hitting rock bottom.
Perhaps it's time for a new one or possibly a whole new system ? It wouldn't hurt
Cheers
