I put in a jump drive and selected a bunch of pictures and selected them all and dropped them on desktop.
It loaded for a while them poof desktop full of icons.....whoops.....
I created a folder and drag and dropped the 20 that I could see to the new folder.
There are 5 to the far right of the screen I can just barley see the edge of that I can* select.
Im worried that there is still 480 pictures over there but I cant get to them.....
I know too many icons can bog down a computer im worried about restarting it and locking it up...

Help please! Computer currently runs fine with no problems at all so maybe it just only created the 20 desktop items and that was all.

Click on My Computer ( or Computer depending on the version of Windows you use ). Next you can either go to your desktop folder one of three ways:

One, the easiest: Type Desktop in the address bar and press enter. This works on most, or all, versions of Windows.
2: Access the desktop directory using a version of windows such as 7: C:\Users\<username>\Desktop
3: Access the desktop directory using a version of windows such as xp: X:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Desktop

The first one will likely work for you if you purchased your computer in the past 8 years or so.

It isn't that having files on your computer can bog it down because you can have a hard drive full of files and still be relatively unaffected in terms of speed.

Things that make a computer seem slow are things such as many programs that start when the computer boots up or programs that access many file s ( file io is one of the most expensive actions that can happen in computing and a way to make it even slower is if a file is fragmented across the hard-drive [ a file that is split into many different pieces across the hard-drive because there wasn't enough space in one area to place the file together ] but most newer operating systems automatically defragment files at a regular interval ).

There are also viruses that can use your processor for actions you don't want it to do or malware that tracks you and launches advertising in your face...

Don't be worried about having too many icons, but I'd recommend storing files in a way that they can be easily found and Windows offers a great way to do this ( but doesn't force you to which is also great because you have the freedom to do what you want ) by using My Documents / My Pictures, etc.. and also Libraries where you can have separate folders linked together in a library...

Storing photos on the desktop may not be the best in terms of organizational sense, and you may notice slower loading time if you have thumbnails enabled because those pictures ( or the ones that can be viewed ) will generate a thumbs.db and that takes time but not all file-types have special rules such as this.

Logitech devices have an issue with gaming when using SetPoint software ( Uninstalled because of this ) where a depressed-key registers as an unpress event after a short period of time meaning if you hold right click to aim, it stops randomly until you re-press. It is one of the most annoying pieces of software because you either need to write your own to use the extra functionality of the keyboar
