Drive Encryption

I recently recognized a need to employ thumb drives for business use, although at this point, I'm not entirely sure of the scope of its uses for my purposes. One priority, however, is security, which I think means drive encryption for files I consider sensitive.

That being the case, I just took TrueCrypt for a test drive, and it seems fine. In browsing different sites, I see some recommendations for Cryptainer LE. So, 2 questions:

1) Opinions regarding TrueCrypt vs Cryptainer?
2) Given that very strong passwords are recommended, any suggestions on secure password management (short of a photographic memory)? I have Password mngmt software, but I plan on keeping that in the encrypted volume as well (incidental, given that I'd have to 'manage' a strong pw for pw software also...).

Security is the second most import thing. The data is first. Be very care encrypting. One digit change is a copy or when removing a thumb drive and poof.

Strong password. Ofet you should take a phrase and use the first letter of each word.

something like more today than yesterday but less than tomorrow=MTTYBLTT. This is a good start since you will remember the phrase. then throw ins some non text symbols and voila. @MTTYBLTT%= stong enough to be virtually unbreakable.

No opinion to #1 because I don't have experience with neither

As for #2, I suggest you pick something (easy to remember, hard to guess
For example a catchphrase you're sure to remember or take the first sentence in your favorite book, a punchline from your fav. movie etc.

Now you take from that sentence the first (or last) letter of each word, alternate capital and lowercase to create your password....you could even invert the sentence or pre or postfix it with a date that's important to you. That should give any potential hackers a run for their money

Method I use for passwords is draw with your finger on the keyboard with intermittent upper and lower case

eg first two letters of my name (Ci) = 9*yGvBnK&ujM as only you know the letters the combination cant be cracked ... maybe your Cats / Dogs name etc

Go with TrueCrypt at least for the reason that it is open-source. (In the encryption world it is really important.)
