Hi folks,

Her indoors is not happy!!

I have converted her Lenovo laptop into a dual boot (XP/7 32-bit) - the intention being to get everything she uses onto 7 and "convert her" to 7 too:D

In XP she has been happily using her wireless connected Canon MG6150 and was comfortable with its scanner driver (Scangear).

In 7 I located the printer on the network and Win 7 got the driver for it. The "printer side" of the driver is fine but the "scanner side" is very minimal (it's a WIA rather than TWAIN) and she's not a happy bunny:(.

Should I remove this printer and start over, using Canon's own software? Bearing in mind that this printer is already wirelessly connected, what's the best procedure - install the software first from Canon's site and then connect the printer? If so, how do I stop it from searching Windows Update for a driver?

Regards

John

Just to let you know, I removed the printer, downloaded the Canon software and driver, re-installed and I have a happy wife now:D

When I installed my Canon wireless printer/scanner as I recall the destructions tell you leave the printer DISCONNECTED. During the Canon software install it well tell you when to power up the printer. Mines a MG5300 if that matters. As I recall when I installed W7 on my new box it saw the network printer and setup all by it's self.

My ball and chain is able to destroy the printer connection on a regular and recurring basis. I've had to reinstall on a XP box almost weekly.
