Dual monitor - One VGA, one HDMI

Hi, I have one monitor hooked up via VGA, the other is by HDMI. When I start up my computer, they're both on up to the point of logging on to Windows. They'll both say "Starting Windows" then one goes to sleep. I know my graphics card can support dual monitors.
Is it just Windows that's the problem, or is there something else?

What are your system specs...mainly your hardware? Is the dual monitors actually monitors or is one of them an HD TV? If they are both monitors are they the same make and model? How are you wanting to setup and use the monitors?

You have to enable the second screen when in windows.
Right click on the desktop, select screen resolution, you should see two screens, one will be greyed out, click on it and then select Extend my desktop to this monitor.

if u follow zephers instruction u will be fine, also if u want to DUPLICATE the screen, select duplicate instead of extend on the drop down list

dvi +vga

Well not wanting to hijack but having samo prob here. puter has dvi and vga out. both monitors are same with only dvi in. Must have cable or adapter to go from vga to dvi. This seems to allow the puter to "see" the vga adapter but will not show on the monitor? Lowering rez to 1240X didn't help either. In win7 I found the drop down menu that lets me select vga & that's when it saw the adapter but no picture??? anyone got a solution (besides new dual dvi card)?? thanks

Rancher, welcome to the Seven Forums.

You can't go from VGA to DVI with an adapter, you have to use a converter instead. You have to use something that can convert the analogue VGA signal to a digital DVI signal.

still find a graphics card u like then look at the converters and then think about if the graphics card is worth it
