1920x1200 is the lowest you'd wanna be running with that card.

hey i found a monitor but the low price makes me real suspicous, i dont know if its good since i dont really know much about monitors can you guys check it out for me? trust me...... the card will not perform to its optimum on a 1680x1050 monitor

Because up to to 1680x1050, the CPU is still primarily doing most of the work.

It's only from resolutions 1680x1050 and above that the card starts to take most of the work.

Since the 5970 is already a dual card, a CPU @ 3.4 will be starting to struggle to provide enough 'oomph' to drive a single 5970, even at 1920x1200.

Add another 5970 and your CPU will struggle even harder to provide enough throughput to provide the 'oomph' to fully utilize these cards in a quad-fire scenario.

As others have mentioned, myself included, you have already made your mind up.

So buy the two cards, have the CPU overclocked even further and buy a bigger screen and then enjoy several more years of smooth gameplay.

Just 1 5970, no point in going with 295 as they don't have dx11 !! ...

Or you could wait for the 400 series from Nvidia which should be coming next month hopefully.

ok i have the computer over here, with dual ati radeon 5970s, you think if i play cod modern warefare for today, on a resolution of 16850X1050 it would damage my cpu? i just wanna play, and ama go buy a Monitor with a resulotion of 1900X1200 tommorow.

man i think dell scammed me, i order a overclocked 3.2ghz intel i7 processor and it came in with a 2.6ghz processor anyone knows hows to overclock it? if so list instruction, make it easiest as possible

So you had already ordered it with both cards but kept asking questions? :sarc:

The i7 920 is 2.6ghz at stock speeds.

Dell also usually lock their BIOS advanced options so you're in trouble there - no overclocking via the BIOS for you.

Otherwise, look through the pre-installed applications. There may be a software based overclocking utility.

And no, running at 1680x1050 will not damage your CPU - I think you may have missed the point we were trying to make entirely.

If all else fails, ring your uncle.

dont worry i will ring hime if it fails , also it came in early, i thought i had the option to change somthing but when i got my account and saw my order status that it got dilevered today, anyways beside that, a 1920X1200 FULL HD monitor would be decent for the cards? any other way to overclock?

It's a network card. You install it, install drivers, connect Ethernet cable and away you go.

Are you powering four 30-inch monitors with 3D gaming or what? If not, that's complete overkill.
