dvd drive disappears !!!

hi, using Win 7 64-bit ... when i insert cd/dvd in my sony dvd riter, it just disappears from windows explorer & power goes off just for it ... so cant even remove cd/dvd ... have to reboot pc for dvd drive to appear again ... tried removing/uninstall the hardware from device manager & installing again ... bt same effect ... can any1 tell me whots wrong with it ??? Thanx

Try connecting it to a laptop.. It will work... I was having the same problem...and still continues

i dont have a laptop ... just home pc ...

What antivirus do you use ? Also go to computer management and then device manager. Post the drivers from DVD/CD-ROM drivers tab.
