DVD/RWs suddenly not working correctly

Hi all,

On my HTPC, my DVD/RW drives are not behaving properly, and I'm not sure why. They no longer have the proper menu on right-click with a disk inserted, double-clicking opens rather than playing CDs and DVDs. I CAN play a DVD by using the menu in VLC to open it, but this is causing a major issue in my son's math program (Teaching Textbooks) because apparently this issue is preventing the program from opening his math problems, grrr. This just started in the past few days. I recently did a few Windows updates, but I do not recall anything related to the drives, nor do I remember if this started before or after the updates. Hello and welcome Solo mate if you have not already I would suggest you run thes for starters as they are the basic stuff
SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker - Windows 7 Help Forums - some say best run for three runs
and this
Disk Check - Windows 7 Help Forums I prefer the command line method but it is your choice but the command line will let you use the /f (fix) and the /r (repair) switches.
