DVD writes, but doesn't read

My CD burner/reader does not read any CD/DVD.
BUT using Ashampoo Burning studio, it writes OK and verifies OK.
When I insert a disk (fresh written and verified and working in other drives), and try to open it in Explorer, I get the message : "insert a disk..." and the tray opens...
"Device properties" tells me that the device is working properly.
I did not change anything, and it used to work perfect ...

Some one any ideas ???

Refresh the drive. Uninstall the drive, in the Device Manager. Then restart the PC and when Windows starts it will detect and reinstall it. Many times this resolves issues with devices.

Thanks firebird, but it didn't solve it...
I'm sure there's nothing wrong with the drive itself, because with Ashampoo Burning Studio, I still can write and read CD/DVD's.
Only Windows Explorer based programs refuses to read ...
Do you have another suggestion ?

The ONLY driver for optical drives (CD/DVD) is the default built in Microsoft driver.

Although I don't think this is a problem, try deleting the Upper and Lower filters for the drive in the Registry. Then restart the PC and see if it helps.

I did have Upperfilters filled in. I deleted it, and guess what ... ??? My CD/DVD works again !!! woot-woooooot !

Of course (but not REALLY important...) I wonder who/what changed that Registry key ???
