I played a new dvd movie OK but the next day when I tried to play it I got a blue screen with title of the movie plus PLAY or LIBRARY. Clicking PLAY just refreshed the screen.
I tried to play another DVD movie which played OK before & got the same result.
I can play either DVD on an XP machine using the ASUSTek ASUSDVD XP player.
Sometimes a brief image from the movie flashes before the blue screen refreshes.
A data CD can be read OK

WMP won't play DVD

I found that if I start WMP with the disk in the drive it shows all the Chapter Titles and play times. Since it can read and display info off the DVD I presume this is a Digital Rights Management issue. Device Manager for the DVD drive shows DVD Region as 1. It was never changed and the DVDs are North American purchase.

I tried Restoring back to a few days before the problem and also chased around endlessly thru internet posts - none of which helped. I finally did a disk image restore from a few months ago and that cured the problem. I won't be playing that DVD again on my computer.
