Having trouble getting MKV files to play in Windows Media Player on Win 7. The Haai Media Splitter is installed, along with FFDshow and an AC3 filter. MP4's aren't affected and play ok. I've used codec tools to make Haai the preferred splitter, but will still say no it can't. Out of ideas except to manually force it to re-register or there's a problem with my registry somewhere

Check whether my 2011 post here helps. http://www.sevenforums.com/music-pi...an-i-play-mkv-files-wmp-12-a.html#post1546012

Yep it is a very old post and I have completely lost touch with Video playing and don't know whether what I had written in 2011 still holds good. But one thing for sure I know is that one should uninstall all unnecessary codecs and retain only those required for a specific purpose. . Too many codecs can only interfere with one another and spoil the broth.
