Can I use this adapter with a HDMI cable on a second monitor to make it as dual monitor?

Before I comment, it would be nice to know what kind of graphics card you have so that we don't give you the wrong advice.

I've used an HDMI (Video card out) to DVI (monitor in) to add an extra monitor to my setup. The sound portion of the HDMI signal is lost in the process. It sounds like your going the other way. Like Mellon Head said though, your video cards outputs factor into it. It depends on how many monitors your card supports and how many you have connected. Also some ports may be just duplicates, you could have a DVI and HDMI port feed by the same signal. In that case you would end up with two monitors with the same image on each.
