Solved DW 1525 Adapter Device Not Found - Dell Inspiron 570 desktop

OK, well at least you can see what I was talking about.

Yeah, even the same version of browser can show differently for some people.

Okay, I guess this topic needs a little more work.

I now have Linksys WUSB54GC V3 Wireless adapter that I've installed, but I've problems with it

I can almost always bring up the Google homepage, but going further than that is dicey. I'm always getting 'page cannot be displayed' msgs (about 75% of the time when I leave Google. And the wifi indicator in the system tray never seems to have more than 3 (out of 5) bars lit. I also see no way to let Windows manage my wireless configuration. On this old XP laptop (whose wifi has always been dodgy at best) I seem to have a strong signal (right now it's sitting next to the W7 desktop, so they're the same distance from the router), I'm able to right click the wireless network connection, then left click Properties. There is then a Wireless Networks tab that lets me see the preferred wifi networks, view wireless networks, and a check box to let Windows manage my wireless network configuration.

I have no such tab on my W7 desktop Wireless Network Connection Properties screen.

******
UPDATE
I removed the USB adapter from the rear of the chassis so I could read the exact model and version number. When I plugged it back in, I stuck it in a port in the front. I now have 5 bars and it seems to work beautifully, but why??? And I'm still curious about the missing Wireless Networks tab.

It could be that the front USB port is in a better location for picking up the WiFi signal, or the USB slot was bad on the back of the machine.

Perhaps you can post a screen shot of the missing wireless network tab?

I could understand the USB port on the back being bad if it didn't connect at all - but it did connect. It just didn't connect very well. I've only known USB ports to either work. Or not work at all - no gray areas.

And I sent a screen shot from this XP laptop. If you need one from the Windows 7 tower I could oblige you, but just go to the screen that displays the Network Connections, right click on the Wireless Network Connection, then left click properties. The subsequent screen normally has 3 tabs at the top: General, Wireless Networks and Advanced. You should be able to see that in the attachment. The Windows 7 tower is missing that middle tab.

My windows 7 laptop has the same properties tabs as you do,
Then where's the spot where you indicate that you want to 'Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings'?
