Hello, from time to time a sort of an earthquake happens on my screen with all windows flying in and out, when I click on the red X to stop it, instead it multiplies the browser icons in the task bar, if I try to open a file it also multiplies itself, writing is impossible with everything jumping. I finally have to shut the machine, let it rest and reopen it and most of the times, but not always, it will come to normal.

I wonder if anyone knows why and how to prevent it?

Thanks so much for a guidance!!!

i think at this point the system just needs a reboot to "self-fix" things. A reboot should help to refresh everything and hopefully the issue wont come back again. If it does, then post back and we can go from there.

Thank you Matts, rebooting means to restart it? If so I do that whenever things in my computer aren't normal. If it means something else, please explain? Thanks.

Also, do you think I should scan with WinZip which I saw advertised here? On the other hand, being that I've lost all my email folders and files, perhaps better to hold it until I resolve that matter. Of course I'll start a new thread about this terrible loss. But meantime I wonder if using a fixing scan like for instance WinZip may make the recuperation harder?

Thank you very much again! Adela

Yes it means to restart the system. Winzip is a unzipping program used to open files in the .zip format.

Okay, yes, this is what I do when I get these weird happenings. But why does it happen? And it does happen often enough to be terribly irritating... :o)

Well let's Jair say windows has its strange happenings from time and sometimes their aren't any real explanations. However as long as there are no error screens or messages popping up you should be a ok. If you did see any messages pop up if you can try and post them here.

Thank you AddRam, but I referred to the red X that's utilized to delete internet pages located at the upper right corner. LOL!

the first thought in my mind was "infection!" and I scanned with a number of well known and good quality anti virus, anti spy, and a number of other "antis" and they all gave 0 all the time. :) Adela
