ebay recursive login problem

Thanks. Creating a new user account seems like a drastic measure. I have emailed ebay for help with this as the problem is perculiar to ebay and ie8.

One thing which I have noticed which may be useful is that ebay is keeping me logged in. I can access other areas of the site, forums, my selling items etc, but when I go to view the summary page I am asked to sign in over and over again.

I tried signing in under another account and the same thing happens, BUT, when I then go to other parts of ebay, (forums, selling items etc) I find myself signed in under this second account.

Something is clearly broken somewhere. It seems that I am in fact able to sign in, but I am unable to see anything beyong the sign in page, if that make sense.

PS. Have tried ALL steps above. nada.

Although, you know we have tried, I feel it is a cookie. That is why I suggested a new account. You go in, and you have to sign in again and get new cookies etc. Try the guest account if you do not want to make a new one. Just once to see.

recurring login problems

I have a new laptop with W7. I too have problems logging into various websites usin valid passwords through IE8. I also had problems with Chrome. I was successful with Firefox. I know this must be a settings issue in IE7, since Chrome also does the same. Why Firefox works i do not know but would love some advice from someone who understands this strange new W7. I like it in many ways but there are other features that make me crazy!

Mr. Nosebleed is not crazy. It's the machine! I even set up new passwords with the companies and they failed also. Only Firefox enabled me to log in.

Help us Microsoft!

I also have login issues with W7

I have the same issues on a new notebook with W7 and IE8. You are not crazy.

I had these issues with several sites and valid passwords, kicking me back to the login page again. I installed Chrome and same problem. Finally I installed Firefox and it worked.

It must be a W7 issue since two browsers did the same. Somehow Firefox avoids the trap.

Any help from you guys at Microsoft?

Also, the hover/click is making me nuts and I can't igure out how to turn it off. Takes me places I don't want to go!
Thanks.

Everyone who has had trouble with a website try this. In an administrators account in cmd type
ipconfig /flushdns Let me know the results

Type cmd in search to get that command

Tried them, no help there. However I think I've found a fix.

I am now able to view other areas of ebay by adding each url to trusted sites and unchecking require server verification.

So far this works for the following:

k2b-bulk.ebay.com.au

my.ebay.com.au

payments.ebay.com.au

signin.ebay.com.au

Presumably there will be others to add to the list.

Should I be concerned about unchecking https?

Hi not sure if this is still relevant I had the same problem and after reading your posts I was able to come up with the solution.

To fix it open IE goto Tools > internet Options > Security and then reset all zones to default levels close then restart ie and all should be fine again.

I have no idea what caused it.. I didn't mess with those settings to require them being reset but it worked!

Problem: Inability to login to My eBay repeatedly in a new Windows 7 system on 2-24-2010
Solution: Reset your cookies parameter to 'accept all cookies'. The problem is resolved immediately.

I hate to admit this, but it took me three hours to figure out where the problem was located. Eventually a message came up on the eBay login page telling me to 'reset cookies to the lowest security setting' Duh!

Same sh... different day

Well actually not just a different day but different alltogether!

I am experiencing the same phenomenon using Opera 9.6.3 on Ubuntu 9.04. Everything is exactly (!) the same:

- LogIn screen after entering credentials brings me back to same (empty) login screen.

- Credentials are o.k. and work with other browser. In fact even with Opera I can see that credentials are ok, because I get no error screen (as surely I do when entering bad credentials).

- Deleting coockies using browser or directly on file system won't help.

- I do get logged in and I can go to myEbay or other pages if I know the URL

It did happen before, than disappeared for a long time. Now it is back. Strange!

Fixed Ebay endless login loop

Deleting cookies does not delete cookies exceptions. This is where I had ebay cookies blocked.

I had the same for other sites. Removed all of the 'blocked' exceptions to cookies.

Ongoing Ebay login problems with IE

There is an ongoing login problem with ebay and IE. Login runs in a loop and never works. Other browsers are working fine. This is a long-term problem which neither ebay nor Microsoft seems to be addressing. It is not a cache/cookies/virus software problem. It is something going on between ebay and MS.
