Ebedded Vimeo videos will not play on any browser

I've had this problem for a while but never been able to figure it out. I've tried 4 different browsers, all with cookies enabled, addons disabled, and while logged into my Vimeo account. It's the same with the antivirus turned off and firewall disabled. Also tried hardware acceleration on and off, changing DNS servers and restoring the HOST file to default.

I get the video box with an image of the video but when clicked they won't play. They all work fine from my neighbors Win7 pc, who is using the same internet and router connection as me, so it has to be my pc/software.

Can anyone think of anything else I can try? Thanks.

What format are the videos ie Flash, mp4, avi?

No idea. This is an example of an embedded video that will not play. I just get a spinning circle and nothing ever happens:

You need to install the codec
Windows 7 Codec Pack 4.2.4

Yes I did. It's just the embedded videos, all the videos at Vimeo.com play fine, except this one: DSR Aryan with sliding door on Vimeo

Not sure if this will help or not but it's worth a try.

I tried that one a few days ago. I can see the video controls, they just never play.

I received this reply from Vimeo support today:

Thank you for clarifying that and I’m very sorry for the inconvenience.

We were recently made aware of an issue affecting Firefox on Windows 7 Professional Edition and some select Android devices and firmware (such as devices running Android 6.0.1). This issue manifests as the play button resolving to pause but with no playback at all, it just sits with no progress. The cause of this issue, unfortunately, is due to a bug in the playback (video decoder) packages that come bundled in Windows 7 Pro and in Firefox as well as on some Android devices.

This problem affects all videos on Vimeo uploaded after March 18 and is due to an update of an open-source library that we use for video processing here at Vimeo. The update actually fixed some more pressing problems and other inaccuracies in 99% of video players including Vimeo.

More specifically, this is a problem of the video decoder implementation that can be usually solved with a software update of the drivers, but when that is not possible browsers have a list of decoders that they shouldn't use.

We have filed a bug ticket with Firefox so that they can fallback to some other solution, but there is nothing actionable for our team as we have no control over their implementation.

Once there are any updates, we will be sure to let you know, but unfortunately we cannot guarantee a timeline for a resolution. For now, we can only recommend switching to another device to view Vimeo videos.

Can anyone else using Win7 Pro play embedded Vimeo videos posted after March 18th this year? Can anyone suggest a possible work around?
